Sourtongue Comes to Visit

I met the boys in Sourtongue when I was in New Orleans last May for the Tape Op conference. I heard their (then recently finished) CD and I liked their playful style and funky groove.

They just finished a five week tour, and were in Houston for a gig, when they called. We visited, and they played a CD with 4 new songs which impressed me mightily (sp?--Logan will rip me off if it isn't right). They have dropped from a quartet to a trio since we last met, and the change was a good one. Think Les Claypool under the influence of an early Rush obsession, stumbling into a position of power at a Tool rehearsal. Yeah,.... there you go, that's Sourtongue!!! They are that good, but not nearly as self-absorbed as the references bandied about above, (at least not in front of me).

I left my cheatsheet with all of their names & nom de plume's on it at the office, but I'm posting anyway. See these guys play. Buy their CD's. It will help them get the juice together to work with me!!!!

On another note, we had the annual SugarHill/Essential Sound/Dan Workman Music Christmas party last night, and I am sure that most of the participants are going to be feelin' it this morning (not your humble, sober, scribe :). We had a great time, and I will post some pics later.

thelove,

Dan
