Iris McAlpine vocals & Eileen Faxas Pre-Pro

Today I shook off the food hangover I had from eating too much Thanksgiving dinner and cut vocals on Iris McAlpine. Iris and Kevin Ryan knocked out an arrangment of her first song with me, 'Roses', and today was my first day to get my ideas in the mix. I really layed back and let Iris drive today. She had some very specific ideas as to what she wanted her vocals to sound like.

I guess I got my wish, as we ended up with about 35 tracks of vocal goodness. We still have a male bass and tenor part to cut but I feel really good about what we have so far. One of the cooler things that came up was our not trying to hard to make the vocal stack line up on the intro and outro of phrases--especially the 'esses' at the end of plural words. I really like the presentation of them not being aligned in this case because it references the backwards sounds that Kevin has going throughout the song.

I am cutting vocals with Eileen Faxas on Tuesday. Eileen and I have not worked together in about a year and a half. We are recutting her song, 'Butterfly' in Spanish, and she has done a marvelous job translating the lyrics (of course, I am not exactly fluent in espanol, but I can read a bit).

The photo is from our pre production last week. Viva Eileen!

That's all the official news. As for the rest of what's going on at the office, you have to ask Devon and Logan. I've been sworn to secrecy, and cannot mention anything else about anything,.... especially about that certian something.

Nope.

Not sayin' a word.

Like, at all.

Laughing at the thought of you trying to translate the lyrics with a Spanish/English dictionary. It would be like Joey from friends using the thesaurus to write a letter to the adoption agency...
