It's funny but in the same show was an incredible essay on the late Tom Dowd. Tom was a brilliant audio engineer whose work defined the golden age of recording. He is the one who invented the linear 'fader'. Before him, all us engineer types turned big round knobs. The artists that he worked with reads like a 'who's who' of hit records from all different genres.
